OUR MISSION
The Mission of the Neptune Township Emergency Medical Services (NTEMS) is to provide clinically and operationally excellent response and emergency medical care to the residents and visitors of Neptune Township. Neptune Emergency Medical Services is dedicated to providing the highest quality pre-hospital and out of hospital treatment with prompt and safe transport. We will accomplish this while assuring appropriate response in emergency and non-emergency situations.
We will have total regard for the best possible service. We recognize that each patient has individual needs which comprise the total person and we have the responsibility to assist patients with their healthcare needs.

- We’re not just work and no play. There are many opportunities to have fun with our wonderful team, including parties, BBQs, fundraisers, and many more.
- Training to attain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician
- Specialized training, including mass casualty response, water rescue, confined space rescue, incident command, vehicle extrication, and terrorism response.
There are other benefits to working on the squad. We look after our members. Below are some of the ways we help our team and say thank you to our volunteers.
- Each summer, squad members receive free admission to the Monmouth County Fair from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
- Neptune Township participates in the LOSAP (Length of Service Awards Program) where members of the volunteer squad earn retirement credits based on their level of participation. This money is held in a retirement account that is invested based on your direction, and is payable to you upon retirement age.
- Neptune Township has an ordinance in place that exempts members of the volunteer organizations from paying many municipal fees, like building, electrical and garage sale permits.
- $600.00 per semester Tuition credit at local Community Colleges.
EMS Volunteer Squads
Neptune Squad
The squad was organized and started operation on February 1, 1949. The first captain was Alfred Atkinson.
Ocean Grove Squad
The Ocean Grove Fire Department First Aid Squad was founded at 8:00 p.m. on March 15, 1932.
Hamilton Squad
Hamilton First Aid Squad for formed Dec. 8th, 1955. The first meeting was called to order 8:00 p.m. by acting President Ed Leroy.
Shark River Hills Squad
A community-sponsored, volunteer emergency medical service that has served the community since 1970.
